The Online Minister Myth

A couple of weeks ago, I came across a panicked post from a bride who's wedding was coming up very fast and she was in need of an officiant. After messaging with her privately, I learned that she had planned on having her sister officiant the wedding until someone told her that online ministers are not legal in the state of Connecticut.

This is completely untrue as I am an online minister, ordained by American Marriage Ministries for the specific purpose of officiating marriages. I felt so bad for this very stressed bride, I ended up spending quite a bit of time online with her, getting her sorted out and directing her sister to the right place to get ordained.

But this was not the first time I had seen posts with misinformation regarding this topic. Watch the edited version of this week's FB LIVE on the subject for more info.

And see this link for the specific language regarding the CT state laws on who is legally allowed to perform weddings. https://www.cga.ct.gov/current/pub/chap_815e.htm#sec_46b-22

All my best, with no stress!
